Mango Tree Bistro: Rich Flavors Under Bangkok Atmosphere

The story began from a small eating place built by the founder himself at his own yard. One thing that stood out the most aside of his delicious homemade Thai food is a big shady mango tree hovering over it. Right now, Mango Tree Bistro has developed into a Thai restaurant franchise throughout the world, like Tokyo, London, Manila, Dubai, and of course, Jakarta. Located inside Epicentrum Walk Kuningan, Mango Tree Bistro brings out traditional Thailand elements mixed with a contemporary twist. A sense of ethnic style can also be found here through the pretty lanterns that lighten up both indoor and outdoor areas, as inspired by Bangkok’s famous “Sky Lantern Festival”.

As a growing franchise restaurant, Mango Tree Bistro always maintains its quality carefully. The authenticity of Thai cuisine is manifested through the usage of natural ingredients with excellent quality, along with flavorful spices to produce the classic characteristics of Thai food: spicy, sour, and sweet.

Let’s try it out through one of their signature appetizers, Pomelo Salad with Shrimp. It’s a fresh mixture of Balinese orange, coconut, carrot, peanuts, and boiled seasoned shrimp. This menu simply screams ‘exotic!’ all over the place! Move along with a ‘heavier’ dish, here comes one of the must try Thai dishes. Nope, I’m still keeping the Tom Yum for later, so firstly I’m going to introduce you to Pandan Chicken a la Thai. It is made of thick and juicy chicken fillet that have been marinated with lots of spices and seasonings. It tastes really GOOD when you pair them with a special sesame sauce. Oh, the pandan leaf that wraps them around also creates a lively fragrant that will surely skyrocket your appetite!

Now, it’s time for the superstar to shine. You guessed it; it’s none other than the world-renowned Tom Yam Soup. I just need to emphasize that Mango Tree Bistro’s Tom Yum Soup is personally one of the best I have ever tried. Every aspect of it feels so balanced. It’s not too watery, definitely not too ‘shocking’ in color (you know I have seen some Tom Yum soup with HIGHLY saturated orange color and to be honest it creeps me out a bit), and most importantly it’s not too overly spiced. The three main flavor foundations: sweet, spicy, and sour are fused neatly without leaving their own uniqueness. A bunch of fresh toppings such as squid, shrimp, and mushroom simply transform the dish into an even richer experience. Definitely worth to try!

Before you left the seat don’t forget to have some sweet Thai desserts, like Sticky Rice with Mango with delicious mango fruit, coconut sauce, and legit sticky rice. Or maybe some drinks to live up your weekend at Mango Tree Bistro’s open space area? Then try out their house creations signature mocktails such as  Mango Tango or the soft and sweet Roseberry None’tini with actual strawberry fruits in it. With a sparkling and comfy ambience PLUS highly recommended authentic Thai food, Mango Tree Bistro will take you to the exotic journey of Bangkok city.
